Sam Ratulangi Manado Destroys The Prohibited Items

Manado – The Sam Ratulangi Airport Manado destroyed the prohibited items in accordance with Regulation of the Minister of Transportation No. 127 concerning the national aviation security program, Friday (16/9).

“Prohibited items were found by aviation security in baggage checking. As stipulated by the Regulation of the Minister No.  127, the items included as prohibited items category must be secured and the owner has been inspected according to regulations. The destruction is regularly held once a year,” said Rudy Supriadi Caretaker General Manager of Sam Ratulangi Airport Manado.

The destruction event was also attended by representatives of the Office of Airport Authority, Mapanget Sector Police, Airlines, Angkasa Pura Supports, and Angkasa Pura Logistics.

The prohibited items which were destroyed a number of 412 liters of liquor, 4,367 matches and 2,498 sharp objects. “For the liquor was destroyed by poured into excavation. Because in form of fluid has been processed into alcohol, so it is safe to be poured into excavation. However, the packaging in the form of plastic bottles is not burned so as not to pollute the environment,” he said. While matches and sharp objects were handed over to the Safety Health Environment (SHE unit) to be kept at B3 waste home (Dangerous Toxic Items). “Then they will be handed over to other authorized parties to transport and process the B3 items,” he continued.

As the gate of items and people movements, the airport shall ensure the security, safety, and convenience of the users of airport services. “Appreciation for aviation security personnel who managed to detect prohibited items. Looking ahead, the vigilance can be improved,” he concluded. [PR MDC]
